The temporary primary school at GuiYuan village on
Dec. 26th, 2008
Metal barracs are bolted down on the foundation of the former school building.
The old school was destroyed on May 12th 14:58 when the Wenchuan earthquake took
place with a Richter 8.2 magnitude
The roofs of the old school caved in injuring 19 children. Fortunately most of
the children were playing on the schoolyard at the time the quake begun.
The rubble seen on the grounds, pushed towards the walls, are the remains of the
old school building
This is a project initiated by the Finnish Community in China to raise funds and
re-build a school in the WenChuan quake area. The value of the project is about 4.2 million and we have pledges for about 90% of this. That means we still need to raise some RMB 400.000. Even though we have a very good start and are almost at our goal, we still
need more support in order to successfully complete this project.
